This page explains what you can and can’t do with Spatz SEO — what your license covers, how activation works, and what happens if you don’t renew. It works together with our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the plugin and the rest of the Service. If anything here conflicts with the Terms, the Terms control.
1. Your license
Spatz SEO is a premium plugin sold as a yearly license, based on the tier you purchase. When you buy, you receive a license key tied to your account and order, and the right to use the plugin on the number of production websites your plan covers.
Staging and development sites do not count against your plan. The plugin automatically detects common staging, local, and test domains and does not count them toward your site limit.
2. What an active license includes
While your license is active, you get:
- automatic plugin updates;
- support;
- the AI features — the SEO agent and Auto-Blog.
The license is what keeps updates, support, and the AI features switched on. Renewing each year continues all three.
3. The code, the GPL, and your commercial license
Spatz SEO is built for WordPress. To the extent any part of the plugin’s PHP is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 2 or later (“GPL”), your rights to use, modify, and redistribute that GPL-covered code are governed by the GPL, and nothing here restricts those rights. Other assets, such as CSS, JavaScript, images, and documentation, are provided under a more permissive license.
Your paid license covers the commercial parts of the Service — license-key activation, our update and license-validation servers, support, your account, and the AI features. The GPL does not grant a right to share, resell, or distribute your license key, to access our update or license servers without an active license, or to use our name, logo, mascot, or branding to imply your copy is official. Those are commercial entitlements, not open-source rights.
4. Bring your own AI key
The AI features run on your own Anthropic API key. You pay Anthropic directly for usage — usually just pennies per task — with no metered credits and no markup from us. Your license is for the plugin; the AI usage is billed straight to you by Anthropic. A built-in daily spend cap lets you set a hard ceiling so costs stay predictable. We never see your key, which is encrypted and stored on your own site.
5. License keys and activation limits
Your license key is confidential. You are responsible for keeping it, your account login, and your API keys secure.
You may not share, sell, rent, publish, sublicense, transfer, pool, or otherwise expose your license key, and you may not use one license on more websites than your plan allows. Sharing a key, exceeding your activation limit, or attempting to bypass activation limits is a breach of your license and our Terms of Service, and may result in suspension or termination without a refund.
6. If you don’t renew
Your site keeps working — nothing breaks. Everything the plugin has already applied, such as meta titles and descriptions, schema, sitemaps, and redirects, stays live, and all of your saved SEO data is retained.
Only the AI features pause: the SEO agent and Auto-Blog switch off, and updates and support stop, until you renew. Renewing at any time switches the AI back on and continues updates and support, right where you left off.
